Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about sharing trip photos with TripVault.

I don't want to install an app — can I still contribute photos to the trip vault?+
Yes. The trip organizer can share a web upload link. Open it in any phone or desktop browser, pick your photos, and they go straight into the shared vault — no app download, no account, no sign-in required. It works on iPhone, Android, or any device with a browser.
What are the different ways to invite someone to a trip?+
Three ways: (1) Share the trip code — the other person enters it in the TripVault app to join as a full member. (2) Share the invite link directly via iMessage, WhatsApp, or any messaging app — tapping it opens the join flow. (3) Share the web upload link for people who just want to contribute photos without installing the app. The web upload link requires no account and works on any device.
Does TripVault work on Android?+
The TripVault app is currently iOS only (iPhone and iPad). However, Android users can still contribute photos through the web upload link — no app or account needed. They open the link in their browser and upload directly. Full Android app support is on the roadmap.
Are photos stored at full resolution?+
Yes. Photos uploaded through the app or the web upload link are stored at full original resolution — no compression, no re-encoding. What your camera captured is exactly what every member of the vault can download. This is the key difference from sharing in WhatsApp or iMessage, which compress photos significantly.
Can I keep some of my photos private?+
Yes. Before uploading, you can mark individual photos as private. Private photos are uploaded to your personal storage and are only visible to you — no other trip member can see them, even if they are in the same vault. You get the benefit of automatic trip-date scanning without having to share everything.
What happens after my trip ends — can I still upload photos?+
Yes, for a grace period after the trip end date. The default grace period is 1 day, but the trip organizer can extend it to 3 days or 1 week in Trip Settings. After the grace period closes, the vault is locked — no new uploads are accepted. All previously uploaded photos remain accessible to every member indefinitely.
How does TripVault find my trip photos automatically?+
When you open TripVault after a trip, it scans your camera roll for photos taken between your trip's start and end dates and presents them in a single upload screen. You review the suggested photos, deselect anything you don't want to share, and upload in one tap. Nothing is uploaded without your explicit confirmation.
Why can't I sync my photos to the trip?+

There are a few common reasons your photos may not appear in the Sync tab:

  1. Already uploaded. The photos have already been synced to the vault — TripVault only shows photos that haven't been uploaded yet.
  2. Trip hasn't started. Photo sync opens on the trip start date. If your trip hasn't begun yet, the Sync tab will show a countdown until it does.
  3. Photos taken outside the trip window. TripVault only surfaces photos taken between your trip's start and end dates. Photos taken before or after that window won't appear.
  4. Camera roll access not granted. TripVault needs permission to read your photo library. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → TripVault and select All Photos.
I accidentally shared the invite code with the wrong person — what do I do?+
Don't worry. The trip admin can regenerate the invite code at any time from Trip Settings. Once regenerated, the old code stops working immediately, so any unwanted guests can no longer join. Your vault and all existing photos remain safe and secure.
Who can see my photos?+
Only members of your specific trip vault can see the photos inside it. Photos marked as private are only visible to you. TripVault uses row-level security on every database query — no one outside your trip group has access, and no photos are ever public. Trip members can view and download photos but cannot delete photos uploaded by other members.
How do I download all the photos that include me?+
This is coming soon. TripVault's AI feature will automatically detect photos where you appear and let you filter and download them in one tap — no manual scrolling required. For now, you can browse the shared gallery and save photos to your camera roll individually.
Can I be in multiple trips at the same time?+
Yes. There is no limit on the number of trips you can be a member of simultaneously. Each trip has its own separate vault. You can switch between them from the main trips screen.
Is TripVault free?+
Yes — TripVault is free to download and free to use. Download it on the App Store and create your first vault at no cost.
I have an idea to improve TripVault — how do I share it?+
Use the in-app feedback feature: tap your profile icon → Send Feedback. We read every submission. You can also email us directly at support@tripvault.ai. Feature requests from real users shape the roadmap — your idea might be in the next release.
